President's Message
February 21, 2012
Greetings from across the pond. I can’t comment on our weather because I have been on the road all of February. I hear there is still no snow…
Our meeting earlier this month was on our home turf at JAX Café in Minneapolis We heard from Brandon Semilof, Director - StoneCastle Partners, who discussed cash management and cash investments and was in between our two “field-trips’ during the 2011-2012 program year. That means that we are off-site again in March at the Federal Reserve. Toby Madden/Regional Economist from the Fed will be the main speaker. The topic will be “2012 Economic Regional Update” and Claudia Swendseid/SVP will introduce Toby and answer questions. On a good, if you already signed up, and bad, if you didn’t, note, we are completely booked for March’s event as it was limited to the first 100 people. This tour/speaker combo always draws a great crowd and although I try never to make promises, I’m sure all will leave with something new and/or informative.
The annual conference is quickly approaching! We have had great response so far for interested Exhibitors/Sponsors/Speakers, but we could always use more. Please contact Quay Hayden or Susan Kubis, our 2012 conference co-chairs, if you have any ideas or questions about the annual conference. As a reminder, the breakfast and lunch speakers are Dr. Stephen Wilbers and Ross Shafer who will be speaking on “Techniques for Effective Business Writing” and “motivation and leadership”, respectively. Thanks to those of you who submitted writing samples for Dr. Wilbers to review. He will also be critiquing one of my president's messages so we can see if I am effectively communicating to all of you. As of today, we have 45 exhibitors signed up for our conference and are always open to more. Conference registration is officially open.
CTP participants at our annual conference are eligible to earn approximately 8 continuing education credits. If you are interested in learning more about the CTP, please contact Joe Grey or any members of the education committee. Learn how earning the CTP can boost your career effectiveness and gain insight into exam preparation.
